[Lagrime] Incredibilmente, a 46 anni muore Kon Satoshi

This is breaking news just coming in as I type this, emanating from the Twitter account of GAINAX's Yasuhiro Takeda and later confirmed by Madhouse's Masao Maruyama via the Otakon committee, but the renowned and much-admired anime director Satoshi Kon passed away yesterday at the age of 47. During his life, Kon was responsible for a numer of high-profile animated efforts featuring his distinctive themes and styles, not least the movies Perfect Blue and Paprika, as well as the Paranoia Agent television series. I'm sure it goes without saying that Satoshi Kon's influence will be immensely missed by anime fans around the world, and our thoughts go out to his friends and family with this tragic news.

Sembra tutto ufficiale, non si hanno dettagli, non si capisce perché e di cosa sia morto questo GENIO. Mi sentivo di farlo presente perché è (era :(( ) una figura davvero influente dell'animazione e su Weathered Frames già sono stati recensiti un paio di film. Il mio invito, ora più che mai, è ancora più caldo, recuperare i suoi lavori e perdersi nel mondo di questo signore.

UPDATE: questo sembra essere un suo messaggio relativo alla malattia, venuto a galla in queste ore:

"May 18 of this year, an unforgettable day. My wife and I received the following prognosis from a cardiologist at the Musashino Red Cross Hospital: "The pancreatic cancer is terminal and has metastasized to the bone. You have at most a half year left."
When I conveyed my concerns for Yume-Miru Kikai [film in lavorazione] to Mr. Maruyama, he said "It's fine. Don't worry, we'll do whatever it takes."
I cried. I cried aloud. With feelings of gratitude for all that is good in this world,
I put down my pen.
